Cave (peșteră)

A cave is a natural underground space at least 5 meters deep or long. Caves are typically formed by dissolution of carbonates or evaporites rocks by surface water or groundwater. Tectonic conditions (joints and faults) are a major factor in the karst process.

Pestera este o cavitate naturala de cel putin 5 metri lungime sau adincime. Pesterile sint in general formate prin dizolvarea rocilor calcaroase sau a evaporitelor (sare, gipsuri). Conditiile tectonice (fracturile) sint un factor important in procesul carstic.
